This time zone applies to all of the country, including Vientiane and Luang Prabang. During Daylight Savings Time, IST becomes Indochina Daylight Time (IDT), which is seven and a half hours ahead of UTC. In addition to this, some parts of Laos also observe an unofficial time zone called Thai Standard Time (TST). TST is one hour ahead of UTC, while IDT is two hours ahead of UTC. These unofficial time zones are observed by some businesses and government offices in certain parts of Laos.
