According to itypeusa, Fiji is an archipelago of over 300 islands located in the South Pacific Ocean, just east of Australia. It has a population of around 880,000 people and its capital city is Suva. The official language spoken in Fiji is English, but Fijian, Hindustani and various other languages are also spoken throughout the country. Fiji’s culture is a mix of indigenous Fijian traditions and influences from other cultures such as Indian, Chinese and European settlers. Music and dance are important parts of Fiji’s culture with traditional styles such as meke or lali drumming being performed at various celebrations or ceremonies. The cuisine of Fiji is mostly made up of seafood dishes such as kokoda fish salad or palusami coconut milk stew along with staples like taro root, sweet potatoes and cassava. Coffee is also popular in Fiji with many plantations located on the islands producing some of the world’s finest beans for export abroad. The economy of Fiji is largely based on agriculture with sugarcane being the main crop grown for domestic consumption or export abroad. Other important crops include coconuts, bananas, pineapples and vegetables while livestock farming also plays an important role in the economy with pigs, chickens, goats and cattle being reared for their meat or milk products. Tourism has become increasingly popular in recent years due to its stunning beaches and picturesque landscapes found across the islands from its lush rainforests to its white sand beaches dotted with palm trees. Fiji is located in the Fiji Time Zone (FJT), which is twelve hours ahead of Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). Fiji does not observe Daylight Savings Time, so FJT remains twelve hours ahead of UTC throughout the year. The daylight hours vary slightly throughout the year in Fiji due to its location in a tropical climate. During December and January, daylight lasts for about 12 hours per day while during June and July, this increases to about 14 hours per day. This can affect people’s sleep patterns, as well as their productivity levels. To combat this effect, many employers in Fiji offer flexible working times so that employees can take advantage of daylight when it’s available. Additionally, many public places such as restaurants and cafes have extended opening hours to accommodate those who wish to make use of the extra light during summer months. In addition to this time zone difference between Fiji and other countries around the world, there is also a significant cultural difference between them as well. For example, Fijians tend to be more formal and value punctuality more than people from other countries who may be more relaxed when it comes to timeliness. This difference in attitude when it comes to work can have an impact on how businesses operate in Fiji compared to other countries around the world. Additionally, language can also be a barrier for some business interactions due to most Fijians speaking English or Fijian as their primary language while English is often used by international visitors or business partners.
