According to itypeusa, Bulgaria is a small country located in the southeastern part of Europe, bordered by Romania, Serbia, Macedonia, and Greece. It has a population of around 7 million people and covers an area of 110,994 square kilometers. The official language is Bulgarian although English is also widely spoken. Bulgaria has a temperate climate with hot summers and cold winters. The economy is largely based on agriculture, industry, and tourism with agriculture being one of the main sources of income for many people. Bulgaria also has a rich cultural heritage due to its diverse population which includes several ethnic groups such as Bulgarians, Turks, Roma and Greeks. The capital city is Sofia while other major cities include Plovdiv, Varna and Burgas. Bulgaria also boasts some of the best ski resorts in Europe such as Bansko or Borovets which are great for skiing or snowboarding during the winter months. In addition to its natural beauty and rich culture, Bulgaria also offers some great opportunities for adventure activities such as mountain biking through the Rhodope Mountains or sailing along the Black Sea coast. Bulgaria is located in the Eastern European Time Zone, which is two hours ahead of Coordinated Universal Time (UTC+2). This time zone is shared with other countries such as Greece and Romania. During Daylight Saving Time (DST), clocks are moved forward one hour to UTC+3. DST begins on the last Sunday in March and ends on the last Sunday of October each year. Bulgaria is also part of the Central European Summer Time (CEST) Zone, which is three hours ahead of UTC during DST. Most countries in Central and Eastern Europe observe DST from March to October each year, so Bulgaria follows suit. During this time period, it shares its time zone with other countries such as Austria and Germany. Clocks are moved back one hour to UTC+2 when DST ends in October. In addition to observing Daylight Saving Time along with other parts of Central and Eastern Europe, Bulgaria also observes certain holidays with special times or exceptions to its standard time zone. For example, on New Year’s Day all clocks are moved forward by one hour for an additional hour of daylight savings time. On Easter Monday (the day after Easter Sunday), all clocks are moved back by two hours so that people can attend church services earlier at night; this is known as “Easter Miracle” or “Little Easter” in some parts of Bulgaria.
