According to itypeusa, Azerbaijan is a country located in the Caucasus region of Eurasia, bordered by Russia to the north, Georgia to the northwest, Armenia to the west and Iran to the south. It has an area of 86,600 square kilometers and a population of 10 million people. The capital city is Baku and other major cities include Ganja, Sumqayit and Nakhchivan. The official language of Azerbaijan is Azerbaijani with 94% of Azerbaijanis speaking it as their first language. Other languages spoken in Azerbaijan include Russian, Armenian, Turkish and Lezgian. Azerbaijan has a diverse cultural heritage with influences from its neighboring countries as well as its own unique traditions such as mugham music or Azerbaijani cuisine. Azerbaijan has an economy that relies heavily on oil exports with other important sectors including agriculture (cotton), manufacturing (steel) and tourism (Caspian Sea resorts). In recent years there have been efforts to diversify the economy into areas such as information technology and finance. Azerbaijan is home to some stunning natural beauty including mountains such as Bazarduzu; forests such as Shirvan National Park; lakes such as Lake Goygol; rivers like Kura River; deserts like Gobustan; national parks like Zangezur National Park; beaches like Lankaran Beach; ski resorts like Shahdag Ski Resort; castles like Ramana Castle; mosques like Maiden Tower Mosque; museums like Heydar Aliyev Center Museum in Baku; monuments such as Flame Towers in Baku’s Azadliq Square. There are plenty of activities for tourists from exploring mud volcanoes or trekking through remote canyons to visiting historical sites or relaxing on one of its many beaches along the Caspian Sea. Azerbaijan is part of the Azerbaijan Standard Time Zone (AZT), which is four hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). This means that when it is 12 noon on GMT, it is 4 PM in Azerbaijan. The daylight savings time in Azerbaijan follows the same pattern as most countries around the world, with clocks being moved forward by one hour during summer months. The months when daylight savings time applies to Azerbaijan are March through October. During these months, people living in Azerbaijan set their clocks one hour ahead of AZT to take advantage of more daylight hours during summer months. This means that when it is 12 noon on GMT, it is 5 PM during daylight savings time in Azerbaijan. Setting clocks an hour ahead also allows for more evening activities such as outdoor events and sports activities to be enjoyed by citizens of the country. In order to adjust to different international time zones, Azeris often use a combination of digital and analog clocks which can be adjusted accordingly. The use of digital clocks allows for quick adjustment between different time zones while analog clocks are used for easier readability in areas with limited access to electricity or digital devices. It’s important for Azeris to be aware of international time zones so they can better coordinate with people from other countries who may have different schedules than Azeris do.
