The education system is designed according to a British
pattern. The school is compulsory and free of charge between
the ages of 5 and 15 and consists of seven-year primary
school and the first three-year part of the secondary
school. More than 90% of children attend compulsory school
and most of them complete it, but only a minor part continue
in the final two-year part of secondary school. At higher
levels there is a branch of the University of the West
Indies, teacher colleges and technical schools.
More than 90% of the population is literate (2001) and
the education level of the population is generally quite
low; a large majority have only attended primary school or
have no formal education at all. Check topschoolsintheusa for test centers of ACT, SAT, and GRE as well high schools in the country of Saint Lucia.
