The responsibility for education in Belize is shared
between the state and the church, and most schools are run
by the church with state support. It is compulsory 8-year
primary school from the children is 6 years. Public schools
are free, but parents have to pay for books and extras.

Almost 100% of children start primary school. The
language of instruction is English, Spanish is the first
